What is a Confetti Foil in Magic: The Gathering?

Bringing a new kind of dazzle to Magic: The Gathering.

With every Magic: The Gathering release, it seems Wizards of the Coast want to bring something new and exciting to the table, often taking inspiration from Pokémon when creating exotic card variants. The same is true for Wilds of Eldraine, the highly-anticipated Standard release that hopes to offer something different compared to Throne of Eldraine, which managed to disrupt various formats in the process.

That aside, Wilds of Eldraine is looking to offer some unique treatments that we don’t often see in Magic: The Gathering, which could also become a collector’s dream upon release.

Rhystic Study (Anime Borderless) (Confetti Foil) - Wilds of Eldraine: Enchanting Tales - Magic: The Gathering

Brand new for Wilds of Eldraine, Confetti Foil is an exciting new foil treatment that only appears on the Anime Borderless cards, which is part of the Enchanting Tales bonus sheet. As you can tell by the below post from Wizards of the Coast, Confetti Foil offers a heavy sparkling effect as if the card is adorned with — well — confetti.

Since these Confetti Foils only appear on the Anime Borderless cards, you can expect a decent premium on these with collectors, especially those who appreciate Japanese culture and aesthetics. Anime-style cards aren’t new to Magic: The Gathering, as we’ve seen various styles appear in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, Jumpstart 2022, and War of the Spark.

Are There Other Confetti Foils in Magic: The Gathering?

Polluted Bonds (Anime Borderless) (Confetti Foil)

Market Price: $27.21

Greater Auramancy (Anime Borderless) (Confetti Foil)

Market Price: $75.54

Omniscience (Anime Borderless) (Confetti Foil)

Market Price: $169.16

Right now, Confetti Foils only appear in Wilds of Eldraine Collector Boosters, where they appear in less than 3% of Collector Boosters, where there’s a 1.1% chance of opening a Rare Confetti Foil card and a 1.7% of opening a Mythic Rare Confetti Foil card. As with many of the various treatments seen in Magic, you can expect Confetti Foils to return if proven popular by players and could appear in a Secret Lair in the near future.

But as for now, here are the twenty Enchantment cards you can collect in Confetti Foil which appear in Wilds of Eldraine:

  • Karmic Justice
  • Land Tax
  • Smothering Tithe
