- Magic: The Gathering Foundations Jumpstart Booster Box
- Magic: The Gathering Foundations Beginner Box
- Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY Starter Kit
Beginner players should generally gravitate towards a set that isn’t complicated, and ideally one that’ll hold its value for a while. So, Magic Foundations is quite literally perfect for both of these reasons. Released last year, Magic Foundations is a special set that’s going to be sticking around in Constructed Standard for at least five years, and it includes a substantial number of strong cards. Plus, a lot of the cards in the set aren’t too wordy or complicated, which can be a barrier for newer players who want to get to grips with the general rules of Magic.
With that, we recommend the Magic Foundations Beginner Box, as it has everything you need to learn the game. Not to mention, if you’re looking for a visual way to learn Magic, we have our How to Play Series that uses the same product to help you on your way.
The Best Sealed Products for Magic: The Gathering Collectors

- Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY Collector Booster Box
- Modern Horizons 3 Collector Booster Box
- Edge of Eternities Collector Booster Box
Collectors will often gravitate towards newer sets or those that boast the most value. At the time of publication, this means your best bet is actually Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY. Even during preorders, MTG—FINAL FANTASY managed to become the bestselling set of all time. That’s a truly staggering accomplishment, especially as it comes with a more premium price tag than your typical Standard sets. Not only that, but the Through the Ages reprints are primarily of cards that desperately need a reprint, and the Collectors Boosters have a chance of opening some serious value ( such as the Surge Foil Borderless Character cards or one of the many Neon Ink Chocobo cards).
Of course, you could also go for Modern Horizons 3, which has a decent number of expensive cards and ones that have been meta-defining since the set released in 2024. While this set is getting a little harder to pick up as time goes on, the value remains decent, coupled with some excellent casual cards in Ocelot Pride. If you’re after something more recent, then Edge of Eternities is the way to go.
The Best Sealed Products for Magic: The Gathering Commander Players

- Magic: The Gathering Foundations Jumpstart Booster Box
- Edge of Eternities Commander Decks (Set of Two)
- Tarkir: Dragonstorm Play Booster Box
Commander players can generally pick up any sealed product and do pretty well for themselves, but we have had a couple of real standouts in the last year. Magic Foundations: Jumpstart is an impressive set with a bunch of excellent Commander cards, and it’s also just a fun set to play casually with friends if you want to break things up from playing Commander all the time.
Then you have Tarkir: Dragonstorm, and while not as heavy on actual Commanders, the set features its fair share of really good cards for decks, especially those with three colors. As three-color Commanders are so popular these days (along with the new Commanders in the set being so much fun), it makes Tarkir: Dragonstorm is a great choice for players. If you want to see our breakdown of the best Commander Precon Decks released this year, we have coverage right here.
The Best Sealed Products for a Great Magic: The Gathering Draft

Market Price: $126.53

Market Price: $243.73

Market Price: $143.64
- Unfinity Draft Booster Box
- Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY Play Booster Box
- Edge of Eternities Play Booster Box
- Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate Draft Booster Box
You can absolutely pick up any Booster Box to play and slam with friends, but if you want something a bit different, then you’ll want to go for Unfinity. Unfinity is a funfair-themed set where all of the rules you know and love are warped in interesting ways. While some of the cards in the set aren’t legal in any other formats, it does make for a wonderful night in. You can also choose to collect more of the set and create a Cube that you can keep drafting as often as you want to.
If you want something with a similar feel, but is more usable outside of Draft, then we recommend Edge of Eternities as it is one of the more recent Standard releases. However, if you have money to burn and want to play one of the best Limited formats in a long time, then we recommend Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY. The Limited environment is fantastic, and the cards you’ll open will become useful in Standard, Commander, and more.
