Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Buyer’s Guide

Avatar: The Last Pricebender.

After months of build-up and excitement, Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender is finally here! And with it comes a flurry of exciting Magic: The Gathering cards adorned with flavor and memorable designs. Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender is geared towards new players and to audiences who may be unfamiliar with Magic, a sentiment that extends into the beginner friendly product line for the release. Compared to Marvel’s Spider-Man, Avatar: The Last Airbender is a much bigger release and there’s more than enough going on with the set that accommodates competitive and casual players alike.

As Avatar: The Last Airbender is part of the Universes Beyond series, the MSRP is high on average compared to your in-Magic releases. That said, here’s the MSRP for Avatar: The Last Airbender as published by Wizards of the Coast:

  • Play Booster: $6.99
  • Collector Booster: $37.99
  • Jumpstart Booster: $6.99
  • Bundle: $69.99
  • Commander’s Bundle: $109.99
  • Scene Box: $41.99
  • Beginner Box: $34.99

As for community sentiment, Avatar: The Last Airbender has been very well received, as the source material enables better worldbuilding, which has filtered down into the card designs. There’s also a marriage of demographics with Avatar: The Last Airbender, as many who appreciate the source material most happen to also be in the average playing range for Magic: The Gathering (the millennial age range), meaning there’s a lot to like with the existing Magic audience.

As Avatar: The Last Airbender is the last set release of the year, knowing what to buy can be a bit of a challenge (especially as we approach the holiday season). With that, let’s make our way through the various Avatar: The Last Airbender products on offer and the ways you can shop smart with this release.

Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Play Booster Box

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Play Booster Display

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Play Booster Display - Avatar: The Last Airbender - Magic: The Gathering
  • Current Market Price (as of 11/25/2025): $154.87
  • Current Market Price (as of 11/25/2025): $154.87 ÷ 30 = $5.16 per Play Booster

Play Booster Boxes are a regular product that accompanies almost every Magic release these days. Each Play Booster Box contains 30 Play Boosters, and it is often much more affordable than buying 30 loose Play Boosters of a given set. Each Avatar: The Last Airbender Play Booster features the following spread:

  • 6–7 Commons
  • 3 Uncommons
  • 1 Wildcard (Any Rarity)
  • 1 Rare or Mythic Rare
  • 1 Traditional Foil Card (Any Rarity)
  • 1 Land
  • 1 Non-Foil Double-Faced Helper Card or Double-Sided Token

Since these are more common, Play Booster Boxes are ideal if you’re looking to build a collection of Avatar: The Last Airbender cards. However, these are also fantastic if you’re looking to host a Draft, Sealed (akin to a Prerelease), or a Commander Boxing League event with friends. While you don’t see as many collector-like treatments in Play Boosters, there is usually a steady demand for the playable non-foil cards as competitive players prefer to play with the default treatments at high-level events.

The Legend of Kyoshi (Borderless)

Market Price: $15.37

Redirect Lightning (Showcase)

Market Price: $14.93

Badgermole Cub (Borderless)

Market Price: $80.81

That said, you do run a chance of opening a Borderless Saga, Borderless Scene, Elemental Frame, Battle Pose, Borderless Field Notes cards in Avatar: The Last Airbender Play Boosters. They can also appear in foil, but the pull rates are remarkably low (around 1%). The Source Material cards are also available to open, and these appear around 1 in 26 of Play Boosters. Either way, a Play Booster Box is a reasonable starting point if you just want to crack packs and flesh out your growing Magic collection.

Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Collector Booster Box

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Collector Booster Display

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Collector Booster Display - Avatar: The Last Airbender - Magic: The Gathering
  • Current Market Price (as of 11/25/2025): $431.29
  • Current Market Price (as of 11/25/2025): $431.29 ÷ 12 = $35.94 per Collector Booster

As the name implies, Collector Booster Boxes are aimed at Magic collectors rather than players. The collector side of Magic has grown substantially within the last five years, meaning there are more exotic and exclusive treatments available in this product line. As a result, this means you run the chance of opening some high-value cards. Each Avatar: The Last Airbender Collector Booster contains the following:

  • 3 Traditional Foil Commons
  • 3 Traditional Foil Uncommons
  • 2 Traditional Foil Avatar: The Last Airbender: Eternal-Legal Commons
  • 1 Traditional Foil Avatar: The Last Airbender: Eternal-Legal card or Booster Fun* Uncommon
  • 1 Traditional Foil Full-Art Appa or Avatar’s Journey Basic Land
  • 1 Traditional Foil Rare or Mythic Rare
  • 1 Traditional Foil Avatar: The Last Airbender: Eternal-Legal Rare or Mythic Rare
  • 1 Non-Foil Booster Fun Rare of Mythic Rare
  • 1 Non-Foil or Traditional Foil Source Material Card
  • 1 Foil Booster Fun Rare or Mythic Rare

*Booster Fun is an umbrella term used by Wizards of the Coast to highlight special treatments you can open in some Play Boosters and every Collector Booster. Booster Fun cards often vary with each Magic: The Gathering release, ranging from Showcase, Borderless, Extended Art, and set-specific foil treatments.

Unlike Play Boosters, you run a significantly higher chance of opening Traditional Foil Borderless Source Material, Borderless Scene, Elemental Frame, Extended Art, and Borderless Pose cards in Collector Boosters. You also run a chance of opening Extended Art and Traditional Foil copies of Avatar: The Last Airbender Jumpstart cards, which are becoming quite desirable on the secondary market. As for the Neon Ink Textless Battle Pose cards, these appear in less than 1% of Collector Boosters of any language, with the Borderless Raised Foil Avatar Aang card only appearing in less than 1% Collector Boosters of any language.

Aang, Swift Savior (Borderless) (Neon Ink Foil)

Market Price: $1,393.52

The Banyan Tree - The Great Henge (Borderless)

Market Price: $50.19

Avatar Aang (Raised Foil)

Generally, Collector Booster Boxes are ideal if you’re someone who loves collecting (and opening) some of the most exotic treatments from a Magic release. However, it’s worth mentioning that you may not always make your money back on a Collector Booster Box with the cards you open — as long as you’re mindful of your spending and don’t overestimate things too much, then you’re good to go.

Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Jumpstart Booster Box

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Jumpstart Booster Display

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Jumpstart Booster Display - Avatar: The Last Airbender - Magic: The Gathering
  • Current Market Price (as of 11/25/2025): $90.08
  • Current Market Price (as of 11/25/2025): $90.08 ÷ 24 = $3.75 per Jumpstart Booster

Jumpstart is a supplemental set that can occasionally support a Magic release and is catered towards new players. With Jumpstart — you’re looking to crack boosters, combine two 20-card decks together, and play. Avatar: The Last Airbender sees 46 different Jumpstart themes in these packs, which will have a mix of reprints and brand new cards. Each Avatar: The Last Airbender Jumpstart Booster contains the following:

  • 20 Avatar: The Last Airbender Cards
    • You have the chance to open one of 46 possible Jumpstart themes, some of which will have multiple variants.
  • 1 or 2 Rare or Mythic Rares
  • Each Jumpstart Booster includes Basic Lands
  • 1 Theme Insert

Jumpstart Boosters aren’t meant for cracking for value in the same way a Play or Collector Booster might be, but are meant to be shuffled up and played as they are. It’s a really accessible and fun way to play Magic, and is best enjoyed with a group of friends. You may find some surprising value in these Jumpstart Boosters (especially with some of the mythic rares), as there are cards only printed in the Avatar: The Last Airbender: Eternal-Legal subset and can only appear in Collector Boosters outside of this. Do double check the price of any of these mythic rares and rares, as you may be in for a pleasant surprise.

Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Bundle

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Bundle

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Bundle - Avatar: The Last Airbender - Magic: The Gathering

In terms of wanting to engage with a release, Bundles are my preferred way to experience the set if I’m looking to buy sealed. They aren’t massively expensive, yet you still get to scratch the booster-opening itch without going too deep financially. An underrated trait with Bundles is that you also get some extra card storage, which is invaluable if you’re someone who has piles upon piles of cards everywhere. The Avatar: The Last Airbender Bundle contains:

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender Play Boosters
  • 1 Momo, Friendly Flier Promo Card
  • 15 Non-Foil Basic Land Cards
    • 5 of these are Full-Art Appa Lands
  • 15 Traditional Foil Basic Land Cards
    • 5 of these are Full-Art Appa Lands
  • 1 Oversized Spindown Die
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender Storage Box
  • 2 Reference Cards

Bundles are also a nice starting point if you’re newer to Magic: The Gathering (especially if you’ve entered the game through Avatar: The Last Airbender), as you also get a pile of Basic Land cards to help build your first decks. Generally speaking, Bundles are also decent when it comes to gift-giving, as they come with suitable packaging while including a few other pieces that Magic players always need, such as a Spindown Life Counter and a Promo card (which is Momo, Friendly Flier for Avatar: The Last Airbender).

Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Commander’s Bundle

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Commander’s Bundle

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Commander's Bundle - Avatar: The Last Airbender - Magic: The Gathering

Brand new for Avatar: The Last Airbender is the Commander’s Bundle, which is a way for Commander players to build out their collection with the new Avatar: The Last Airbender cards. There aren’t any Commander Precon Decks with the release, which means the Commander’s Bundle presents a good entry if you’re looking for specific treatments to add flavor to your decks. The Avatar: The Last Airbender Commander’s Bundle contains the following:

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender Play Boosters
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender Collector Booster
  • 5 Non-Foil Promo Cards
    • 3 of which are the same in each Commander’s Bundle
  • 15 Non-Foil Basic Land Cards
    • 5 of these are Full-Art Appa Lands
  • 15 Traditional Foil Basic Land Cards
    • 5 of these are Full-Art Appa Lands
  • 1 Click Wheel
Sol Ring (Showcase)
Arcane Signet (Showcase)
Swiftfoot Boots (Showcase)

The Commander’s Bundle also contains five non-foil promo cards, three of which are always Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, and Swiftfoot Boots adorned in Avatar: The Last Airbender aesthetics. As for the other two promo cards, these can be random from a selection of 10 cards, which are:

  • Obscuring Haze
  • Fierce Guardianship
  • Deflecting Swat
  • Flawless Maneuver
  • Deadly Rollick
  • Enlightened Tutor
  • Worldly Tutor
  • Gamble
  • Mystical Tutor
  • Entomb

These are all highly playable Commander cards with most of them presenting decent value on the secondary market, with Obscuring Haze, Gamble, Flawless Maneuver, and Entomb being the ones under $10 at the time of publication. While the Commander’s Bundle is a new product line for Wizards of the Coast, it’s ideal for those who want to build multiple Avatar: The Last Airbender Commander decks but want to maintain the flavor with the intellectual property. The addition of Basic Lands and a Collector Booster rounds out the Commander’s Bundle quite nicely, in my opinion.

Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Beginner Box

Avatar: The Last Airbender – Beginner Box

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Beginner Box - Avatar: The Last Airbender - Magic: The Gathering

Introduced with the release of Magic Foundations, the Beginner Box is the best way to learn Magic: The Gathering if you’re brand new to the game. It has everything you need to start your card-bending journey, along with an easy way to pick up the game with visual and reference guides. Each Avatar: The Last Airbender Beginner Box includes the following:

  • 10 Themed Avatar: The Last Airbender Jumpstart Half-Decks
    • Two of these decks are tutorial decks and are intended to be played against each other.
  • 5 Non-Foil Tokens
  • 2 Gameboard Playmats
  • 2 How to Play Guides
  • 2 Reference Cards
  • 2 Spindown Dice
  • 1 Reference Guide Booklet

When learning with the Beginner Box, the two tutorial decks are the ones referenced in the guide booklets, which means you do not want to shuffle these up before playing, as they are laid out in a specific way in the guide to help you learn. The addition of the other Jumpstart Half-Decks means you can eventually mash them together and play once you have a better understanding of how to play the game.

While not for veteran Magic players, the Beginner Box is remarkably good for people who are familiar with Avatar: The Last Airbender but unfamiliar with Magic, and makes it easier to pick the game up.

  • Buy Now: Avatar: The Last Airbender – Prerelease Pack (Set of 5)

If you’re looking to be a bit more sensible with Avatar: The Last Airbender purchases, a Prerelease Pack is a nice option without breaking the bank. With each Avatar: The Last Airbender Prerelease Pack, you get the following:

  • 5 Avatar: The Last Airbender Play Boosters
  • 1 Seeded Avatar: The Last Airbender Character Booster
    • Each Seeded Booster centers around a different character. For example, the White Prerelease Pack will center around Aang and airbending themes.
  • 2 Non-Foil Double-Sided Tokens (which complement the Prerelease Pack’s color)
  • 1 Traditional Foil Stamped Promo
  • 1 Spindown Die (which complements the Prerelease Pack’s color)

Prerelease Packs are usually one of the first ways you engage with a Magic: The Gathering release through Prelease events hosted at your local games store. After these events (which happen a week before the set’s global release), your local games store may have a few Prelease Packs left over for you to purchase. While they aren’t the most gift-giving of options, you do run a decent chance of finding a good deal on a Prerelease Pack or two once there’s been some time since the set’s release.

Avatar: The Last Airbender does Prerelease Packs a little differently, as there are five different Prerelease Packs you can collect (one to represent each color in Magic). In each of these Prerelease Packs is a Seeded Character Booster, which focuses on a particular Avatar: The Last Airbender color and the mechanic associated with it. This is fairly common when it comes to releases with a strong worldbuilding theme, as seen with Tarkir: Dragonstorm earlier this year.

Scene Boxes are a regular product that features alongside most Universes Beyond releases these days, which debuted in The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth

What makes Scene Boxes an ideal purchase for the more casual and newer Magic: The Gathering player in your life is how the cards can be displayed as a complete piece of art rather than just being played as game pieces. Sure, you have the option to do either — but with Universes Beyond introducing more audiences from these intellectual properties, it means there are more different ways to appreciate Magic as a result. With each Avatar: The Last Airbender Scene Box, you receive the following:

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender Play Boosters
  • 6 Traditional Foil Borderless Cards
  • 6 Art Cards
  • 1 Display Easel

If you’re curious to see what the complete scene from Tea Time at the Jasmine Dragon looks like — well, here you go:

Mai and Zuko (Borderless)
Aang and Katara (Borderless)

Market Price: $10.31

Toph, Greatest Earthbender (Borderless)

Market Price: $31.51

And here’s what the Black Sun Invasion completed scene looks like:

Along with the six Borderless Traditional Foil cards, there are three Avatar: the Last Airbender Play Boosters and a display easel in each Scene Box. These Scene Boxes are fantastic stocking fillers and ideal for the gift-giving season, especially for the Avatar: The Last Airbender fan in your life.
