If you’ve come here looking for a recipe, you are out of luck unfortunately. Anyway, there are a lot of cards in this subset now that Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes is out, so we’re going to highlight the ones that are pulling in the most money.

Naturally, this is the order of these at the time of writing, but there’s every chance this changes in the future. These are a little less hectic than a lot of other sets because they’re all cards we’ve seen before, so they do tend to hold their value a little more consistently. With that out of the way, let’s get into it.

#10 Captain America, First Avenger (Marvel Super Heroes)

Captain America, First Avenger

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Captain America, First Avenger - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

Captain America, First Avenger is the worst of the best cards here, or at least the one with the lowest price tag. It’s a reprint of one of the Secret Lair x Marvel cards, and is a three-mana red, white, and blue 4/4 that lets you pay three mana to unattach an equipment from it and deal damage equal to its mana value to up to three targets, split as you please. You can also attach one equipment to it at the start of your combat. It’s a solid Commander, and only gets better as we get more Marvel cards.

#9 Simulacrum Synthesizer (Marvel Super Heroes)

Simulacrum Synthesizer

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Simulacrum Synthesizer - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

Simulacrum Synthesizer is a three-mana blue artifact which lets you scry 2 when it enters, and then spits out construct tokens whenever an artifact with a mana value of three or more enters. These constructs all get stronger the more artifacts there are, and that’s very cool. The art shows off a very early Iron Man too, so that’s nice for people who remember the olden days.

#8 Heaven-Sent Marvel (Archangel of Thune – Marvel Super Heroes)

Archangel of Thune

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Archangel of Thune - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

Heaven-Sent Marvel shows off Captain Marvel as she flies through space holding two giant oranges. Well, it might be her superpowers. Either way, it’s a reprint of Archangel of Thune, a key part in so very many lifegain combos that puts a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control whenever you gain life. It’s a card that we really do need a full reprint of, but this is a good compromise for now.

#7 Reanimate (Marvel’s Spider-Man)

Reanimate

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Rare

Reanimate - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

Reanimate is a one-mana sorcery that returns a creature from your graveyard to the battlefield, and you lose life equal to its mana value. It’s a powerhouse card that can see play in every format it’s legal in, and this time around it shows one of the very many times that Spider-Man manages to avoid dying for real.

#6 Opposition Agent (Marvel’s Spider-Man)

Opposition Agent

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Opposition Agent - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

Opposition Agent in the Marvel world has the exceptionally cool Agent Venom as its artwork. It’s really just a mech suit version of Venom, and who doesn’t love that? The card itself is a three-mana 3/2 with flash that lets you control other players when they search their libraries, and lets you steal cards they find as well.

#5 Patriotic Shield (Sword of Fire and Ice)

Sword of Fire and Ice

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Sword of Fire and Ice - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

Patriotic Shield is a reprint of the excellent Sword of Fire and Ice, we’re not sure how you get a shield from a sword, but Captain America is just that good. This three-mana equipment gives protection from red and blue, +2/+2, and the ability to deal damage and draw cards as well. It’s just a very good card, and the art showing Cap as he seemingly defends against a fireball is very cool.

#4 Parallel Lives (Marvel’s Spider-Man)

Parallel Lives

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Parallel Lives - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

Parallel Lives is a green classic, as it doubles the number of tokens you would make. This one is especially cool from an art perspective, as it shows Peter Parker and Miles Morales as one and the same, but in a shattered reality. Heck, one could even describe the reality as having been fractured.

#3 Wolverine, Best There Is (Marvel Super Heroes)

Wolverine, Best There Is

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Wolverine, Best There Is - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

Wolverine, Best There Is is another reprint from the Secret Lair release, and is a three-mana red and green 2/2 which deals double damage. It also gets a +1/+1 counter in each end step if it dealt damage to another creature during that turn, and you can pay two-mana to regenerate it. It’s a very strong aggro Commander for sure.

#2 T’Challa’s Protection (Teferi’s Protection)

Teferi’s Protection

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Teferi's Protection - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

T’Challa’s Protection is a reprint of the excellent Teferi’s Protection. That means it’s a three-mana white instant that stops your life total from changing, gives you protection from everything, and phases out all of your permanents until your next turn. This makes you functionally not in the game for a round, which is great if you want a snack. Or if there’s a board wipe.

#1 Doom Variant (Roaming Throne – Marvel Super Heroes)

Roaming Throne

Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Roaming Throne - Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal - magic

At the top, as he’d no doubt love, is Doom Variant, a reprint of the mighty Roaming Throne. Alongside having a version of Doom on a Dinosaur, which has also been Doom-ified, this four-mana artifact creature doubles the triggers of a creature type of your choice, which is pretty darn powerful. This thing is a must-have in nearly every kindred deck, and it’s also incredibly cool art.
