These deals won’t leave you in the dark.
After the releases of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lorwyn Eclipsed is finally here! And with it come several ways to appreciate the pastoral wonder that is the Lorwyn-Shadowmoor plane. It’s been a minute since we’ve had an original Magic: The Gathering release, and players are really excited to dive in.

As Lorwyn Eclipsed is an in-Magic release, knowing where to start can be a bit tricky if you’ve come from one of the several Universes Beyond releases over the last year. Lorwyn Eclipsed is your typical Magic release and features the usual slate of products to support Standard Constructed and Commander play. As published by Wizards of the Coast, the MSRP for Lorwyn Eclipsed is as follows:
- Play Booster: $5.49
- Collector Booster: $26.99
- Commander Precon Deck: $49.99
- Bundle: $57.99
- Draft Night: $89.99
- 60-Card Theme Decks: $23.99
Compared to other non-Universes Beyond releases, the MSRP for Collector Boosters and the Commander Precon Decks has increased with Lorwyn Eclipsed, and this will remain the case moving forward. As for community sentiment, Lorwyn Eclipsed looks to be extremely well-received by players and collectors. It’s been a refreshing return after Marvel’s Spider-Man and Avatar: The Last Airbender, which has led to more intentional purchases as players look to support in-Magic releases from now on, or perhaps didn’t resonate with the last two Universes Beyond releases. With players spending less on Universes Beyond in the second half of last year, it has meant players have more cash to burn on releases they are interested in (and this applies to Lorwyn Eclipsed).
Lorwyn Eclipsed cares greatly about typal strategies, which means there’s a bunch of cards focusing on a specific creature type. Historically, these have always been popular and desirable with players, as Commander leans into this playstyle the most. With the deep focus on typal themes with Lorwyn Eclipsed, there is a sacrifice in printing fewer individually strong cards at the expense of designing with broader synergies in mind. Either way, Lorwyn Eclipsed features a ton of casually fun cards along with some potential all-stars that are already making an impression competitively, making it a really good Magic set to dive into if you’re new to the game.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Booster Box
Lorwyn Eclipsed – Play Booster Display
Lorwyn Eclipsed

- Current Market Price (as of 01/23/2026): $137.13 ÷ 30 = $4.57 per Play Booster
Play Booster Boxes (or Play Booster Displays) are your usual tentpole product that supports many Magic releases these days. Play Booster Boxes include 30 Play Boosters, and often work out cheaper than buying 30 loose ones. Each Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Booster features the following:
- 6–7 Commons
- 3 Uncommons
- 1 Wildcard (Any Rarity)
- 1 Rare or Mythic Rare
- 1 Traditional Foil Card (Any Rarity)
- 1 Basic Land
- 1 Non-Foil Helper Card or Double-Sided Token*
*Note that Wizards have removed Ad and Art Cards from Play Boosters, where Art Cards will now only appear in Collector Boosters. This began with Edge of Eternities

Market Price: $27.85
Play Boosters are perfect if you’re looking to play Draft or Sealed (Limited) with friends, start a Commander Boxing League, or maybe create a Cube with the leftover cards once done with cracking packs. Play Boosters (and Play Booster Boxes) encourage the best opportunity to open a bunch of non-foil cards, which tend to be more desirable with competitive players when it comes to trading. Generally, Play Booster Boxes provide a decent starting point if you want to flesh out your Magic collection without paying the premium price of a Collector Booster Box.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Collector Booster Box
Lorwyn Eclipsed – Collector Booster Display
Lorwyn Eclipsed

- Current Market Price (as of 01/23/2026): $427.09 ÷ 12 = $35.59 per Collector Booster
While Play Boosters are geared towards more gameplay, Collector Boosters care more about the collectibility — an initiative that started in 2019 with Throne of Eldraine. Collector Booster Boxes (and Collector Boosters) are the premium product choice with a given Magic release, and this sentiment applies to this release. Each Collector Booster Box contains 12 Collector Boosters, and includes the following spread:
- 15 Commons (Traditional Foil)
- 4 Uncommons (Traditional Foil)
- 1 Full Art Basic Land (Traditional Foil)
- 1 Rare or Mythic Rare (Traditional Foil)
- 1 Commander: Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander Rare or Mythic Rare (Non-Foil)
- 2 Booster Fun* Rares or Mythic Rares (Non-Foil)
- 1 Booster Fun Rare and Mythic Rare (Traditional Foil)
*Booster Fun is an umbrella term used by Wizards to highlight special treatments you can open in some Play Boosters and every Collector Booster. Booster Fun cards often vary with each Magic release, ranging from Showcase, Borderless, Extended Art, and set-specific foil treatments.
What makes Collector Boosters such an enticing option is that you can potentially open some of the most exotic printings of a given card, which can sometimes be more valuable than the Collector Booster itself. With Lorwyn Eclipsed, you’ll have a better chance of opening Extended Art, Showcase, and Borderless cards on-averaged compared to Play Boosters.

One change Wizards have made is that Japan Showcase cards (of all foil treatments) are exclusive to Collector Boosters going forward. Furthermore, you won’t be able to open a Japan Showcase card in Japanese in English Collector Boosters anymore, as Wizards have made the change after extensive community feedback. You’ll only open English Japan Showcase cards in English Collector Boosters from now on, which means they’re easier to trade on the secondary market compared to before. However, Fracture Foils remain exclusive to Collector Boosters and are a few of the big-ticket items from a given release.

Market Price: $486.65

Market Price: $13.32

Lorwyn Eclipsed Collector Boosters also give you the very rare chance to open the Headliner card Bitterbloom Bearer, which is serialized out of 500. These appear in less than 1% of Collector Boosters, and are looking to be the most valuable cards from the set. You can also potentially open foil Special Guests cards and the reversible Shock Lands, which will also be desirable cards to own post-release.

Generally, Collector Boosters are a reasonable purchase if you have cash to burn and want to collect some of the more exotic treatments from a given set. However, it’s always worth checking the price of the cards you’re hoping to open on the secondary market first, as these may end up being cheaper than a Collector Booster (or Collector Box) itself. Often, card prices tend to bottom out a month after release, but you can sometimes find a good deal on release weekend as well. Generally, Collector Boosters aren’t ideal if you’re looking to make a profit on the box by selling the cards individually, and always recommend purchasing within your budget or means.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Bundle
Lorwyn Eclipsed – Bundle
Lorwyn Eclipsed

If you aren’t in the market for a Booster Box, then a Bundle is a decent compromise that scratches the itch while not breaking the bank. Each Lorwyn Eclipsed Bundle comes with the following:
- 9 Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Boosters
- 1 Traditional Foil Kinbinding Promo Card
- 30 Basic Lands
- 15 Traditional Foil Basic Lands
- 15 Non-Foil Basic Lands
- 2 Reference cards
- 1 Spindown Die
- 1 Card-Storage Box
Bundles are also a suitable starting point if you’re pretty new to Magic, as you also get a bunch of Basic Land cards to help build those decks. Generally speaking, Bundles can be a nice option for gift-giving, as they come with presentable packaging while including a few other pieces that players often need, such as dice and card storage.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Draft Night Box
Lorwyn Eclipsed – Draft Night
Lorwyn Eclipsed

The Draft Night Box is a new product line from Wizards, which hopes to bring the Draft experience to your home. Each Draft Night Box contains the following:
- 12 Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Boosters
- 1 Lorwyn Eclipsed Collector Booster
- 90 Non-Foil Basic Lands
- 10 Non-Foil Double-Sided Tokens
- 1 Draft Insert
The Draft Night Box centers on playing the Pick-Two Draft Format as introduced with the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man, which requires four players instead of the usual eight. Interestingly, this is the same number of players needed for a Commander pod, and offers another way to play Magic if you’re a bit burnt out on the singleton format. The idea is that four of you will play Two-Pick Draft, and the winner will take the Collector Booster as the prize. It’s unclear if the Draft Night Box will be successful, but it’s good to see Wizards explore different product lines to play Magic that isn’t tied to just Commander or Standard Constructed.

Speaking of Standard Constructed, Theme Decks return with the release of Lorwyn Eclipsed. These are 60-card Preconstructed Decks geared towards competitive play, and give you an affordable starting point to play Standard. Each Theme Deck has the following:
- 1 Ready-to-Play 60-card Standard Deck
- 5 Non-Foil Double-Sided Tokens
- 1 Double-Sided Reference Card
- 1 Strategy Insert
If you’re curious about what’s in these Theme Decks and secondary market value, here are the decklists:
- Pirates Theme Deck
- Angels Theme Deck
Generally, these Theme Decks are reasonable if you want to play some Standard at your local games store or want to be more proactive in attending your FMNs. While Angels and Pirates may resonate with players, it’s a shame the Theme Decks aren’t really Lorwyn-themed to complement the release, as these would likely be more popular with casual players if they focused more on Faeries, Goblins, or Elves instead. However, it’s good that Wizards are becoming more proactive in affordable ways to play Standard (which happens to be cheaper than buying a Commander Precon Deck), and you can use any of the cards opened from Lorwyn Eclipsed to upgrade these Theme Decks further.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Prerelease Pack
Lorwyn Eclipsed – Prerelease Pack
Lorwyn Eclipsed

- Current Market Price (as of 01/23/2026): $41.00 ÷ 6 = $6.83 per Play Booster
If you’re being really careful with spending but want to crack open a Play Booster or two, then a Prerelease Pack is the way to go. With Lorwyn Eclipsed, these contain the following:
- 6 Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Boosters
- 1 Traditional Foil Rare or Mythic Rare
- 1 Spindown Life Counter
Prerelease Kits have changed a bit with the release of Lorwyn Eclipsed, as the “Prerelease Promo” doesn’t come with the date stamp anymore, a permanent change going forward. There’s an outside chance that if you purchase one of these Lorwyn Eclipsed Prerelease Packs, you may receive a Traditional Foil Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles card instead, an error acknowledged by Wizards of the Coast.

While Prerelease Packs are often used for Prerelease events leading up to a set’s global release, sometimes a local games store may have a few left over and be available to purchase post-event. Admittedly, Prerelease Packs aren’t the most gift-giving often out there for players, but sometimes you can grab a decent deal on these if the set has been out for a while. Alternatively, snapping up a handful of Prerelease Packs means you can run your own Prerelease-style event with friends, bringing the casual experience to your own home.

Commander continues to be the most popular and accessible way to play Magic, with Lorwyn Eclipsed featuring two Precon Decks to collect with the release. Each Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander Deck contains the following:
- 1 Ready-to-Play 100-card Commander Deck
- 1 Traditional Foil Face Commander (Borderless)
- 1 Traditional Foil Featured Commander (Borderless)
- 98 Non-Foil Cards (including 10 New Cards)
- 10 Double-Sided Tokens or Punch-Out Counters
- 1 Reference Card
- 1 Deck Box
Unlike previous Commander Precon Decks, these do not include the Collector Sample Pack, and this will be the case moving forward. As for the Commander Decks, these are designed to be opened and played as they are without needing any changes. However, there’s always an opportunity to upgrade these into something more powerful if you prefer (which we’ve covered for both Dance of the Elements and Blight Curse Commander Decks), and allow for a good entry point into Commander.
