We are Venom.
Magic: The Gathering’s Marvel’s Spider-Man set has an immense number of different art treatments, basically one for every kind of collector. It means that, no matter what you’re looking for in an alternate piece of art, you’ll be able to find it. While a lot of them are popular, some of the cleanest options, in terms of artwork, are the Borderless Marvel Universe cards, and we’ve made a list of the most valuable ones around.
The Most Valuable Marvel’s Spider-Man Borderless Marvel Universe Cards

The Borderless Marvel Universe cards are some of our favorites from the many different art treatments in the MTG Marvel’s Spider-Man set. They have images that just ooze style and flair, and show off some huge moments in the life of Spider-Man and a few other key characters. It’s no surprise to see that they’re popular in general, but we are a little shocked to see which ones have made the top ten here.
#10 Tangle
Tangle
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Uncommon

Tangle is a useful combat trick in green that can not only stop any damage from happening for a turn, but also lock down someone’s creatures. The artwork here though is what makes it special. It shows off Spidey as he weaves his own web, holding multiple strands in each hand. It’s an incredible piece of art, and that’s probably why it’s up here.
#9 Path to Exile
Path to Exile
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Path to Exile is an essential bit of removal, and here we see it not defeating a villain, but representing the classic Peter Parker isolation. It has Spidey in the background with a downtrodden Parker walking towards us. It’s a good representation of the way the character tends to stay away from anyone else, and if you’ve read the fate of his version of Gwen Stacy and MJ, you’ll know why.
#8 Savage Beating
Savage Beating
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Savage Beating could have had any number of artworks on it, but opting for Venom pummelling Spider-Man into the ground is definitely a strong choice. The card itself is a great way to turn your combat phase deadly, but the art of Venom smiling, his hand dripping with blood, is a good way to represent the name of it.
#7 Arachnogenesis
Arachnogenesis
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Rare

Did you know that there’s a version of Spider-Man that’s actually one special spider controlling a whole swarm, and then it just takes on a human form? Anyway, Arachnogenesis is another great way to stop some combat damage, and it makes a bunch of spider tokens. The art here has what looks like standard Spider-Man covered in webs and spiders, but maybe it’s the weird spider-swarm version.
#6 Counterspell
Counterspell
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

We’re a little bit surprised to see this one here. While Counterspell is certainly a good spell, the artwork here isn’t quite as evocative as some of the other pieces. Still, watching Doc Ock slap Spider-Man in the face while he’s restrained is probably fun for those who love to play the villain in EDH. So maybe that’s it?
#5 Heroic Intervention
Heroic Intervention
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Rare

Spider-Man swinging in to save the day and holding someone under his arm was the only possible choice for this card. Heroic Intervention is a mighty way to protect your permanents, and the idea of Spidey swinging in to do so certainly fits his character. We’re not sure he’d actually do it with MTG cards, but we’re also pretty sure a man of his character and intellect would love Commander, so we could be wrong.
#4 Parallel Lives
Parallel Lives
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Parallel Lives is a classic Commander card that doubles your tokens. The artwork here doesn’t show off an army of different Spider-Man options though. Instead, we get to see the glass shattering, with Peter Parker in part of the image, and Miles Morales in another. It’s a great way of doing it, but with the Spider-Verse films around, we’re surprised to see art from them not featured.
#3 Venom, King in Black
Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Venom, King in Black is actually the only card on this list that’s a different card, with that card being the infect lord that is Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon. This artwork is probably our favorite from among this list. It has Venom sat on a throne with membranous wings behind him, a sword in his hand, and some of his brood below him.
#2 Reanimate
Reanimate
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Rare

Finally, we’ve got an image showing the Venom-symbiote Spider-Man crawling his way out of a grave for Spider-Man. It’s an incredible image, and it shows the change that Parker goes through when this suit first arrives in his life. Yes, the very same change that led to the wonderful scenes of Tobey Maguire dancing with an emo fringe. See, it’s an essential part of human history and a really good Magic card.
#1 Opposition Agent
Opposition Agent
Marvel Universe Eternal-Legal, Mythic

Opposition Agent is a great card, and while they could have gone for a villain in this spot, we instead get Agent Venom. Agent Venom is a version of Flash Thompson that goes on to do more good in the world, instead of just succumbing to his disdain for Peter Parker. The style of the suit is completely different, with it looking more like armor, and it looks like something that could fit into Kaladesh or Phyrexia.
